Our Aims

Consent before the point of crisis.

Most crucially

Reinstatement of Respite Homes where Mums and babies can have the rest, time out, and the therapeutic treatment they need to recuperate, feel safe, and cared for.

MANDATORY DUTIES FOR G.P’S AND HEALTH VISITORS

To make mandatory:  The duties of Health Visitors and G.P.’s to continue to support, treat and protect: Mothers and their Babies where symptoms of ill mental health emerge, and: fathers and families where fatalities occur.

AND

For the government to make mandatory:

More frequent and extended face to face Midwife and Health Visitor checks in the post natal period and provide access to early domestic support when Mums struggle to cope, as a means to assist and liaise with perinatal agencies.

Assistance in cultural research abroad

To explore diversities in, and alternative methods of maternity and postnatal care that could benefit the health and welfare of mother and baby.

Vital improvements in Hospital maternity departments:

VIP: Patient-centered approach, based on TLC. Early diagnoses and correction of baby’s tongue ties.

Consent at the point of crisis:

The ‘timing’ of consent and preliminary lengthy and complex explanations to be addressed before the point of crisis, and allow especially first-time mothers/fathers/carers, to be fully informed beforehand instead of on a ‘need to know basis’.

A balance

Between mothers/fathers/carers and doctors, and midwives, to create a level playing field. Doctors and midwives to train together and have equal status in the delivery room.

Promotion of Midwifery skills

To allow the capability needed for natural and assisted births, in order to avoid emergency caesareans and create a trusting relationship with mother based on listening and encouragement.

Counselling and baby skills

Routinely given before discharge, especially for new mums and following a difficult traumatic birth.
